Vassar professor Sarah Kozloff to help organize “March for Our Lives” Hudson Valley protest against gun violence on March 24, 2018

In conjunction with New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, Vassar film professor Sarah Kozloff will help organize “March for Our Lives,” a protest against gun violence at the Walkway over the Hudson, on Saturday, March 24 at 11:00am. This event is open to the public, and will be asking for one-dollar donations per person.

New Yorkers Against Gun Violence, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, Black Lives Matter, Move Forward NY, Ulster People for Justice & Democracy, U-Act, March On Hudson Valley and Citizen Action of New York are coming together to sponsor “March for Our Lives” across the walkway, from Poughkeepsie to Highland, NY.

Sarah Kozloff of New Yorkers against Gun Violence states, “The time is right for us to insist on a respectful discussion of evidence-based initiatives to combat the epidemic of gun violence. If not now, when?”

The march will begin at 11:00am on the Poughkeepsie side of the walkway with rally instructions and safety procedures. No bags, backpacks, alcohol or weapons will be allowed on the bridge during the march. Fanny packs will be allowed but will be checked at the entrance of the march. Protest signs are encouraged, but no sticks on the signs will be allowed. Look for informational updates on the March for Our Lives Hudson Valley Facebook page. One-dollar donations are being asked of each marcher on the bridge.

The march will be followed immediately at 1:00pm by SOS: Surround Our Schools. We will take hands to fully surround a local school in unity to protect our children. School location to be announced.
