Halloween 5K Fun Run and Halloween festival at Vassar College, October 29, 2016

Vassar College is opening its campus for a day of fall fun, including a 5K Fun Run or Walk,  Halloween trick-or-treating for young children and other activities on Saturday, October 29.

The day kicks off with the costume-optional 5K Fun Run at 11 am. Free registration begins at 10 am on the Residential Quad; advanced registration can be done at the Mid-Hudson Road Runners website (www.mhrrc.org) or by emailing Renee Pabst (repabst@vassar.edu), director of health education. There is no fee to register but donations to Family Services Crime Victims is encouraged. The race begins at Vassar’s Main Gate.

Since this is a Fun Run, there will be no individual places or awards; however, there will be a clock for time and all finishers will receive a medal. The run is sponsored by the Office of Health Education and RunVassar.

Continuing the festivities, the Town of Poughkeepsie Recreation Department will host a children’s costume parade and contest. Parade line-up begins in the North Parking Lot at 12:00pm and will proceed around the college into the residential quad at Vassar where the judging will take place. Afterwards there will be trick-or-treating in the dorms and fun activities, including arts and crafts, bounce houses, juggling and kidditch.

Note: in case of inclement weather, the trick or treating will be moved to the Poughkeepsie Senior Center on Route 9.

Parking for this event will be in North Parking Lot. Attendees may access the lot via the Main Gate on Raymond Avenue or the Class of 1963 North Gate on Collegeview Avenue.
