Members of the Vassar student body, faculty, staff, administrators and alumnae/i communities are concerned about the worldwide refugee crisis. A panel discussion and conversation about this issue will be held on Thursday, October 8, 5:30pm in Rockefeller Hall, room 300.
Mariya Nikolova is the editor of the International Review of the Red Cross, and will join professors Maria Höhn (history and international studies), Ismail Rashid (history), and Diane Harriford (sociology), and Sam Speers, director of the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life for this discussion. Nikolova has traveled to refugee camps worldwide and has also held positions with the International Centre for Transitional Justice and the Bulgarian Missions to the UN. Her areas of expertise include international humanitarian law, human rights and conflict resolution. Note: Depending on travel circumstances Nikolova may participate in person or via Skype.
