Postponed until February 12 due to inclement weather: Writer-in-residence for the spring semester and bestselling author Francine Prose to read from her forthcoming novel

Bestselling author Francine Prose will read from and discuss her forthcoming novel Lovers at the Chameleon Club, Paris 1932, on Wednesday, February 12 at 6 pm. The event, sponsored by the Department of English, will be held in Taylor Hall, room 203, and is free and open to the public.

Lovers at the Chameleon Club will be published by Harper in April and has been lauded by Kirkus Reviews as “brilliant and dazzling….a tour de force of character, point of view and especially atmosphere.” Prose is serving as Vassar’s writer-in-residence for the spring 2014 semester.

Prose is the author of seventeen works of fiction. Her novel, A Changed Man, won the Dayton Literary Peace Prize and Blue Angel was a finalist for the National Book Award. Her most recent works of nonfiction include the highly acclaimed Anne Frank: The Book, The Life, The Afterlife, and the New York Times bestseller Reading Like a Writer. The recipient of numerous grants and honors, including a Guggenheim and a Fulbright, a Director’s Fellow at the Center for Scholars and Writers at the New York Public Library, Prose is a former president of the PEN American Center, a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. She is currently the Distinguished Writer in Residence at Bard College. Prose lives in New York City.
