Vassar College is opening its campus for a day of fall fun, including a Fun Run, Halloween trick-or-treating and activities on Saturday, October 26.
The day kicks off with the costume-optional 5K Fun Run at 11 am. Free registration begins at 10 am on the Residential Quad; advanced registration can be done at the Mid-Hudson Road Runners website (www.mhrrc.org) Because this is a Fun Run, there will be no individual places or awards, but runners will be timed and all finishers will receive a medal. The run is sponsored by the Office of Health Education and RunVassar.
Continuing the festivities, a costume parade and contest will start at noon. Participants should line up at Arthur S. May Elementary School. Trick-or-treating, games and activities for children begin at 1 pm at the Residential Quad. These activities are sponsored by the Office of Health Education, Davison House, Jewett House, Town of Poughkeepsie Parks and recreation and Together Opposing Neglect and Child Abuse (T.O.N.C.A.).
Parking for this event will be in North Lot. Attendees may access the lot via the Main Gate on Raymond Avenue or the North Gate on Collegeview Avenue.
