Election Day - Tuesday, November 4, 2008

The College will provide transportation to the two voting polls where students who are registered in New York will vote. A van will leave from Main Circle every half hour starting at 12:00 PM and ending at 8:00 PM. The van will stop long enough at each location for students to vote and then return to campus. FYI: one of the two polling places for Vassar students, the Arthur May Elementary School, is a two-block walk from campus on Raymond Avenue.

Where you vote depends upon the residence you lived in when you registered to vote, not necessarily where you live now. The campus is divided into three separate voting districts as follows:

  • Students in the Terrace Apartments are in Ward 6, District 2 and vote at the Arthur May Elementary School.
  • Students in the Town House Apartments are in Ward 6 District 3 and vote at the Town Hall.
  • Students in the South Commons Apartments and students in the Residence Halls are in Ward 6 District 4 and also vote at the Arthur May Elementary School.

Again, where you vote is determined by the residence you lived in when you registered to vote. Please notice that most students will vote at the elementary school on Raymond Avenue and will check-in according to the district in which you registered. Remember to bring a form of identification and know the district in which you are registered.

Directions to polling places

Arthur May Elementary School is on Raymond Avenue just before the traffic light at route 44/55 west.

The Town Hall is a little more indirect: Proceed to route 44/55 east. Route 44/55 divides just after Uno's Resturant, stay right on RT 55 east for the equivalent of a block and exit to the right onto bypass road heading north on Burnett Boulevard for about 1 block. Turn right onto Overrocker Road . Then take the second left onto a driveway up the hill to the Town Hall.

Polling places are open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
