IMPORTANT EVENTS UPDATE
Until further notice, the campus and ecological preserve are closed to non-essential visitors. The Poughkeepsie Farm Project, Community Gardens, and Vassar Golf Course will remain open as usual, but cordoned off from the rest of the campus. In addition, the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center will be open to the public on weekends, with access from an entrance on Raymond Avenue, just off campus.

Do you have questions about budgeting and credit cards? You are not alone! Understanding the basics of budgeting, credit card agreements, saving, and managing debt can help you to achieve your goals of traveling the world, giving to charity, or taking time off to learn how to play the ocarina. It's never too early to start learning the basics of budgeting, credit card agreements, saving, and managing debt! Alex Burke '07, owner of Financial Solutions Associates, a boutique financial planning firm near Boston, MA, will join us online for two consecutive Mondays to share his experience and advice regarding financial planning:
- Monday, April 5th: Budgeting Basics
- Monday, April 12th: Managing Credit & Debt
Students do not need to attend both sessions and students are welcome to sign-on a little late or leave a little early as their schedules require. Time will be incorporated into both sessions for questions from the audience.
Alex Burke graduated with an A.B. in Astronomy. He left Vassar to do marketing research for a biotech company in Vermont, then made scientific-grade mirrors and sold liquor in Ithaca, NY, before finally applying to graduate school. After earning his Master’s degree in Astronomy and teaching at San Diego State University, Alex ditched academia to help people improve their finances. He now helps people plan their futures and manages investments as the owner of Financial Solutions Associates. He lives in Massachusetts with his telescope, wife, and two children.
