Know Your History and Geography

In-person events are suspended until further notice. The Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center is now also closed. If you are a member of the Vassar Community, check out the Department of Athletics & Physical Education’s new virtual health & fitness program. Meanwhile, we urge everyone to comply with Gov. Cuomo’s executive order by maintaining a six-foot distance from others in public and washing hands frequently for at least 20 seconds.

"Know Your History and Geography" - Leonard Freed's Photographs of the Berlin Wall (1961-1989)
Includes a selection of images of the wall by photographers Shinkichi Tajiri, Jonathan Borofsky, and Carol Highsmith.

On the 30th Anniversary of the breaching of the Berlin Wall, Magnum photographer Leonard Freed’s charge to “know your history and geography” inspired faculty and students at Vassar College to explore walls, past and present. The month-long program will launch with a panel and two exhibitions that will be on display from 30 October to 25 November, 2019.
