Greenhaven Reunion
Saturday, April 28, 2018
Time11:00 am
LocationEly Hall AULA
The Green Haven Prison Program was founded by Professor Larry Mamiya 1979 as a weekly dialogue on current events between Vassar students and inmates at a maximum-security prison in Stormville, NY. The program has evolved into an opportunity for both students and inmates to received college credits for participation in the academic experience.
The reunion has occurred annually since 1999, and serves as an opportunity to bring together Vassar alumnae/i and former Green Haven-Taconic-Fishkill inmates for conversation, activity, and collaboration.
Vassar College will be hosting formerly incarcerated participants of the Vassar-Green Haven academic partnership to lead workshops regarding mass incarceration, and to collaborate on prison advocacy/reform projects. The keynote speaker of the reunion is currently undecided.
