An outpouring of more than 200 artworks by local nursery,
elementary, and intermediate school students will be displayed in the exhibition, “A Celebration of Children’s Art,” at Vassar College’s 33 rd annual John Iyoya Children’s Art Show. The exhibition is on view from Sunday, March 11, through Friday, March 16 in the James W. Palmer Gallery of Main Building. The exhibit is free and open to the public, as is a March 11th reception in the gallery beginning at 2:00pm.
Sponsored by the college’s Department of Education, the Iyoya show highlights young children’s interest in the visual arts and encourages their use of the arts to express themselves. The exhibit’s namesake, John Iyoya, was a Vassar student known for his creativity and love of children.
The 2018 show will include artwork by students from G.W. Krieger Elementary School, Warring Magnet Academy of Science and Technology, Morse Young Child Magnet School, Hagan Elementary School, Nassau Elementary School, Lagrange Middle School, Todd Middle School and Wimpfheimer Nursery School at Vassar College.
The Palmer Gallery is open for this event from Monday-Friday (March 12-16) from 10 am-4:30 pm, but calling ahead to the Office of Campus Activities is recommended. For regular gallery hours please check the Vassar website at https://palmergallery.vassar.edu/.
