All college lecture by the eminent anthropologist, Emily Martin, Professor in the Institute for the History of the Production of Knowledge and the Department of Anthropology at New York University. Professor Martin's lecture is entitled, "Sleepless in America," A reception will follow. Professor Martin's lecture is sponsored by the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, the Departments of Anthropology, Philosophy, Sociology, Women's Studies and STS. Professor Martin is the author of The Woman in the Body: A Cultural Analysis of Reproduction, Flexible Bodies: Tracking Immunity in American Culture from the Days of Polio to the Age of AIDS and Bipolar Expedition: Mania and Depression in American Culture as well as many other publications on the intersection of science and culture.
