Fruit Salad! Bisexuality Discussion. Tuesday, September 2312-1pm in the LGBTQ Center (CC 235). Come Celebrate "Bisexuality Awareness Day" with out bisexual Leslie Power, who will discuss her experiences as a bisexual and the invisibility of bisexuality in our society. FREE PIZZA!This is the first discussion in our Fruit Salad! series about diversity within the queer community.

The Elizabeth Bishop Lecture. Li-Young Lee, author of four critically acclaimed books of poetry including Behind My Eyes, Book of My Nights, Rose, and The City in Which I Love You, as well as a memoir titled The Winged Seed: A Remembrance, which received an American Book Award from the Before Columbus Foundation. Lee's honors include fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, The Lannan Foundation, and the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation, as well as several grants.

A lecture by Michael Rebell, author of "Equality and Education," and "Educatio Policy Making and the Courts." Mr. Rebell is a faculty member at Teacher's College, Columbia Univrsity, and Columbia Law School. He is also the Executive Director of the Campaign for Educational Equity. Mr. Rebell was co-counsel for the plaintiffs in Campaign for Fiscal Equity, Inc. v. State of New York, a landmark school finance case that claimed New York State was not adequately funding schools in New York City. Sponsored by the Vassar Debate Society.

Renowned philosopher and author K. Anthony Appiah, the Rockefeller University Professor of Philosophy at Princeton University, will discuss ?African Identities? on Tuesday, September 23, at 7:00 pm in the Villard Room of Main Building. This program will launch the year-long commemoration of the fortieth anniversary of Vassar's Africana Studies Program, the longest-running multidisciplinary program at the college, and a pre-talk reception will begin in the Villard Room at 5:30 pm.
