The Department of French and Francophone Studies and the French Club hereby invite you to SOIRÉE '68!!! Come celebrate the 40th anniversary of the May 1968 student and worker uprisings in Paris with a short talk from David Schalk and two revolutionary films projected on the Ferry House in an outdoor "Woodstock" ambiance.
We will begin the event at 8pm on May 7th with a 20 minute talk from David Schalk, Vassar Professor Emeritus from the History Department and an eyewitness to the riots. Film viewings begin at 8:30 with a 45-minute documentary by Chris Marker, and a 9:15 screening of Roger Vadim's Barbarella, a comedy that features Vassar grad Jane Fonda. Films in French with English subtitles.
So come break out in May the way your grandmother did forty years ago. We will bring the free popcorn, Orangina (limited) and films. You bring the blankets and the revolutionary spirit.
