The Music Department invites you to attend, "Reflections On The Career of Pedro Izquierdo." A public lecture by Professor Robin D. Moore, University of Texas at Austin. Probably the most famous Afro-Cuban performer of mid-1960s Cuba was Pedro Izquierdo. His sudden rise to fame, the nature of his repertoire and stage persona, and his rather sudden decline in popularity after 1967 lend important insights into attitudes towards Afro-Cuban culture and the limits of racial tolerance in revolutionary Cuba.
