The project, called La Ceiba, aims to reduce illegal immigration and to provide the education and means for the community to generate employment through sustainable use of local resources. It is an eco-tourism project that will use profits from tourism to support micro-finance and environmental conservation projects, such as: a reforestation effort, a constructed wetland, organic coffee cultivation, transition to efficient stoves, and so forth.
