"Cop-Out," written by John Guare in 1968, remains a compelling exploration of the American concepts of love vs. war and power vs. rebellion. A relevant black-comedy, the play intertwines the story of Brett Arrow, a 1940s cinematic no-nonsense detective racing to solve a seductive murder mystery, and the complicated relationship between a policeman and a war protester in the 1960s.
