"Stalker" (1979) 163 min. English subtitles. Drawing on another prominent sci-fi text (a novel by the Strugatsky brothers), Tarkovsky creates a stunning masterpiece that blends poetic and metaphysical cinematic traditions. Viewer beware: this is likely to be the most haunting film you'll ever see. Introductory remarks by Dan Ungurianu.
