Lecture with activist-author Maude Barlow, national chairperson of The Council of Canadians, a nonpartisan public watchdog group working to fight against global trends in privatization and deregulation, and co-founder of the organization's Blue Planet Project. Barlow is also the co-author of "Blue Gold," a 2002 international best-seller about the world's growing water crisis. Event featured as part of the Vassar Greens Take Back the Tap Campaign. Peniel E. Joseph, "The Black Movement and American History: Rethinking Black Freedom Struggles and Democracy." Although Joseph's formal expertise includes the Black Radical Tradition, Pan-Africanism, Black Social Movements, and African American feminism, he is currently embarking on a re-evaluation of the Black Power Movement. Professor Joseph teaches in the Department of African and Afro-American Studies at Brandeis University.

Behind the enigma is a story of scientific breakthroughs, greed, and exploitation, but also of selflessness and love. This beautiful film is based on a 1920s novel by Aleksandr Belyaev. The Amphibian Man was a major blockbuster in the Soviet Union, with an audience of 65.5 million viewers within the first year of its release.Introductory remarks by Dan Ungurianu.
